Functionally, they are identical- just use whichever one matches your intake and valve covers. WebJun 22, 2024 · This test on chamber volume (and static compression) was run on a 416 LS3 stroker. The stroker was built using a Speedmaster crank and rods combined with a set of JE flat-top pistons. Similar to many of the tests, I tried to lower the static compression to safely apply boost to the combination.

WebDec 20, 2009 · for putting in a truck use the 305 heads with the 1.84 intakes if you can. the 1.74 will work too. as stated before the smaller valves will give you better low end grunt. just what a truck needs. will help in the gas mileage also. as for using the thin head gaskets it will not help you that much. but i use them all the time any way. If you cut for 1.94 and 1.6 valves, unshroud the cumbustion chambers and do a port match-bowl port job they almost breath as good as a bone stock 461. They come out real close to 64cc if you unshroud the valves. You could get over $500.00 real easy doing this.

The chamber is more compact so the valves are more shrouded. So when going to a larger valve the chamber can benefit from some deshouding.
