WebSep 9, 2024 · Remember the 305 Vortec heads are not the same as the 062-906 Vortecs. The intake port may be the same but the chamber is of a different design. I do know of people using the 906's on 305's and make great power with them. My opinion is that better air flow out weighs a slightly higher compression. WebThese heads will port out well, but be aware that 305 heads have smaller valves, so only look for 350 heads unless you’re specifically working on a 305. This will save you the expense of extra machining to put in larger valves. Also, if the porting technician is too exuberant, there’s the possibility of porting these into the water jacket.

They are better than the TBI heads though. Those older heads may be around and will way out flow the 305 head with its 1.84 intake valve.
